Fed up with curtains? Try these blinding ideas instead.... If you are not big on curtains but want something to keep the outdoors out of your home, go for blinds.
There are many gorgeous designs out there and being so simple, it is even possible to make your own! Whether you go for traditional Venetian, roller, horizontal sliding, Roman or vertical blinds, they are a great way to add interest to your windows without the fuss of curtains.
1x1 polls
With their sleek, hard-edge appearance, blinds are appropriate in most contemporary designs. Metal, vinyl, or wood slates are held together by draw cord or other connectors in a horizontal or vertical position. Blinds can be raised or lowered in their entirety or the angle of the slats can be adjusted for light and privacy control.
Although they differ in appearance, all blinds have slats that stack and tilt for privacy and light control, and fall into two main categories: horizontal and vertical. Horizontal blinds, which encompass the original Venetian blinds and ever-popular miniblinds, now include a more modern selection of micro-miniblinds and wood blinds. Vertical blinds have all the versatility of horizontals, but also add the advantage of a side-draw operation like draperies. Because of the way they operate, vertical blinds are especially suitable for sliding doors and angled windows. Mini and wood blinds are the most common ways used to provide a nearly private environment. Just be aware that there is a small possibility of seeing through the slats at certain angles. Wood blinds keep rooms warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
Perforated metal or wood blinds can be tilted to keep direct sun out of your room, while still maintaining glare and light control. They are great for providing privacy and energy efficiency. Bamboo and matchstick blinds add a tropical feel to a room. They will filter light and cut down on much of the glare, but should be backed with light-absorbing material if total blockage is required. A combination of cotton fabrics in different densities, printed with subtle designs, take the traditional roller blind into a new element. Add instant glamour to a plain roller blind by sticking a row of shiny mirror tiles along the bottom edge it couldnt be simpler!
With all the different window treatments and options available today, how do you choose which one will best suit your home, your family and your pocketbook?
Theres certainly no shortage of selection blinds, shutters, sheers, shades and much, much more. Whether youve just purchased a new home and want to cover those naked windows, or just want to give the windows of your existing new home a change, it pays to consider all the options first. However with a blind its more difficult to go wrong. Call it blind faith if you will!
